Look of the Day - Colour me Coral

I've been wanting a coral lipstick for a while now but could not find the perfect shade. Finally got one, wahay :) I am loving this Revlon one that my sister got me as an early birthday present :) Presents are always great! The lipstick looks slightly orange in the picture, I think that's because I did too many coats but I like that it matches my blouse. Plus the packaging is really cute and the colour comes on pretty quick without having to layer it on or use a lip liner to neaten the edges.
Revlon ColourBurst Lipstick in shade Coral  - £7.99
For my eyes I did my subtle smoky eye shadow using my H&M palette but instead of lining my bottom lash line I applied black eye liner on my eye lid and coated my lashes with my million lashes mascara, that's a line you hear a lot lol. I also highlighted my brow bone with a creamy eye shadow and used a light bronzer on my cheeks. Coral is very in this spring and summer and I am loving all the coral pieces in the shops, it's a colour that anyone can pull off. Also the weather has been super sunny and beautiful these last few days, I believe that spring is finally here, mega excited for summer and all the summery looks.

Look of the Day - Emerald Green

Firstly a big congratulations to Raeesa and Yaseen on their Civil marriage. This is the eye make up that I wore to their wedding and it managed to last the full day as these pictures were taken at the end of the day. I was super tired but wanted to do a blog about this look :)

Eye shadow palette by Sleek - £6.49 each
For this look I wore eye shadows from my Sleek palettes and I nearly have all of them, but the colours in them are really pigmented and long lasting. I should have really cleaned them before I took the picture, oopsy! Anyway I can't remember from which palettes I wore the eye shadows from but I started with a gold colour all over my lid and put a bronze colour on the crease of my lid and below my bottom lash line. I then used a emerald green colour on the inner corner of my eye and top crease of my lid which gave it some colour and highlighted my brow bone with a creamy eye shadow. As my clothes were green I didn't want too much green on my eyes.

Glam crystals eye liner by Collection 2000 - £2.99
The look would not be complete for an occasion if it didn't have glitter, right? Lol well that's the case for me which is why I used my glitter liner in gold on the inner corner of my eye working outwards but not all over my eye lid. I love glitter and I have these glam crystals eye liner in gold, silver and pink. Finally I applied my Body shop eye liner in a thin line over my lid and coated my lashes with my million lashes mascara. I was going to apply black eye pencil on my bottom lash line but didn't in the end in case it smudged throughout the day and it was a good choice as it was a very long day but I did touch up my make up in between. A lovely day never the less :)

Look of the Day - Plum Lip Tint

Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint by Maxfactor in shade 06 Royal Plum - £7.99
Hello :) I did this look as I wanted to share with you what I thought about the new Maxfactor lip tint that I recently bought. The applicator is great as you can get a really nice neat edge around your lip and its super soft but it's not very long lasting as throughout the day I had to keep retouching my lips because the centre comes off and it also dried my lips up. I find that if I apply Vaseline or a lighter lipstick underneath then it does last longer. But try it for yourself as all the colours are gorgeous.
Eye Shadow palette from H&M

For my eyes I used my H&M eye shadow palette which I use a lot and love as all the colours are really pigmented and for so many pretty colours it was not expensive at all. As you can see in the palette the colours I use the most are almost finishing but there quite natural colours that I like to wear as my everyday make up. On my eyes am wearing the goldy bronze colour on my lid and the dark brown colour on the crease of my eye to create a subtle smoky look, and the top creamy colour to highlight my brow bone. I then lined my water line with my black eye pencil and coated my lashes with my million lashes mascara. I've tried so many other different mascara's but I always come back to this one because the brush is perfect for adding volume and also length. I used the eye shadows quite lightly as I didn't want too much of a dark look because my lips are a bold colour. This look is very versatile as the colours can be changed to anything and will always look good.

Zebra lurve

I love zebra prints and everyone that knows me will probably say am a little obsessed with zebra printed things. That maybe slightly true, lol..I do have quite a few zebra things. But how cute are zebra stripes, very!! Speaking of cute, since this blog is about zebra prints I wanted to show you my favourite handbag which is of course zebra print and I love love love it! I bought this last summer from my workplace, one of the perks of working in a shoe and handbag shop :)
Zebra Print Bag from Jones-Bootmaker
I have been wanting to try zebra print on my nails for a while now but not had the time, I finally managed to take some time out and try it. This was my second attempt as the first try ended up really thick. I did my nails by painting on a base coat, for this I used a lovely pale pink but any colour will look good. Then I got a small paintbrush and using black nail polish I painted stripes in a zebra print pattern and finished with a clear top coat to make my nails shiny and last longer. Before you apply your top coat its better if you wait a couple of hours as the black can smudge which mine slightly did, but I fixed it.

You can get nail brushes which am going to get soon and do more nail art as it's super fun, although I have done it before but not much as its quite time consuming. I have seen so many different nail art stick on's in the shops with very funky Aztec and animal prints on which I am loving and might get some as its way easier than doing it myself.
My friends keep telling me to try zebra print eye make up so keep an eye out for this as it will be coming soon...

Look of the Day - Retro Red

Heyy! This is one of my most favourite and easiest looks to do as its very simple but striking. This look was very popular in the 50's and is a look that will never get old as you can add any lip colour with the bold eye liner.

For this look I used a neutral eye shadow that is the colour of my skin to add a base for my eye liner and used a creamy shimmery colour to highlight my brow bone. I do normally use the Rimmel eye liner as the brush is very fine but for this look I used the body shop eye liner as the brush is quite thick and works really well in creating thick flicks. The technique that I find best for my eye liner is starting at the end as I like to perfect the flick first then work inwards as this helps me get the thickness right along my lid. Personally I like to have the end of my eye liner thicker than the rest of the line on my lid as this enhances the shape of my eye.

Volume Million Lashes Mascara in Extra black by LOreal - £10.99
Body shop Eye liner in shade Black - £9.00
Body shop Lipstick in shade 53 - £9.00

I then added a few coats and by a few coats I mean lots, lol of my volume million mascara to add thickness. To give this look the statement finish  I applied my body shop lipstick in shade 53. Although I have called this look Retro Red the lipstick is actually a pinky red depending on how dark you apply it. As the lipstick is a bold colour I used a lip brush to perfect the edges on my lip, you can use the matching lip liner for this but I can never find lip liners to match all my lipsticks and so I prefer to use my brush which gives it a neater finish. Another tip before applying lipstick is to put some gloss or Vaseline on first as this softens your lips and helps your lipstick go on smoother and adds a nice shine to your lips. Plus no one likes dry lips.
Enjoy this look and leave me a comment if you would like to see any particular make up look :)

Look of the Day - Royal Blue

For those of you who don't already know, the Queen of England, Prince Philip and Duchess of Cambridge came to visit De Monfort university as there first stop on her Diamond Jubilee. Which I was very excited to see and I got to, twice, yay :) So today's look has all three colours of the England flag to commemorate the Royal visit.

I did this look using my white shimmer cube eye shadow for my lid and inner corner of my eyes, also to highlight my brow bone. For the blue liner I used a royal blue eye shadow to line the top of my lid and under my water line. I then lined my waterline with a black eye pencil and coated my eyelashes in my volume million mascara. To finish the look I used a Maybelline red lipstick which in the picture looks a lot lighter than it actually was because of the sun. I wanted to use the three colours on the England flag but not all on the eye as red, white and blue on the eyelid can make you look a bit like a clown and that's not the look I was going for, lol. This is a great way to wear two or more bold colours without looking overdone.

P.S - Happy International Women's Day to all you lovely women out there :)

Look of the Day - Purple Shimmer

(Bodyshop shimmer cube palette in shade 23 purple-£16.00)
Hello :) My first make up blog of many more to come. I bought this eye shadow palette last week and I am in love with it because all the colours are so pretty so I thought I would do a make up look of the day. Bodyshop does a few different shades of these palettes and I think I have most of them.. but these are my favourite as it has pink in and two shades of purple.

On my eye I have worn all four colours with the pink and light purple on my eyelid, the dark purple on the crease of my lid to enhance the shape of my eye and the white silver colour to highlight the inner corner of my eye and my brow bone. I also used the dark purple below my waterline and filled in my waterline using a bodyshop black eye pencil.. yes I have a lot of bodyshop make up, lol and finally coated my top lashes with the volume million lashes mascara in extra black by LOreal.

The colours are not that pigmented but I like that as I can have it light or dark by building it up. Another thing I love about bodyshop eye-shadows is that they do not crease which is something I find happens to me a lot and for all day use this is great. This is a look I will definitely be doing over summer as its very shimmery and so easy to do.
Hope you enjoy this as much as I did doing this look :)

About moi :)

My official first blog and I think its time I introduced myself properly.. so here goes. Am Jakia and I have loved make up since I can remember. I remember using my sisters make up when I was little secretly..lol, and now I have a big bag of make up of my own. Actually that bag is getting too full and I might even need a second bag. I think I might do a blog about what's in my make up bag, well the products that I love and use all the time :)

I am currently in my final year at university studying Graphic Design and Photography. I am in the process of setting up a separate blog for that... look at me, blogging. Sounds strange but fun. Me and my friend with the glitter shoes were discussing starting a blog and we finally decided to make one.

Well right now I don't know what else more to say about myself but as I blog more, it will reveal more about me and my likes and dislikes.. I love pink sparkly things and anything zebra print, although I think this topic deserves its very own separate blog..lol!! Lots more blogs to come (excited). This is all for now as am getting tired, early I know but I have work early tomorrow.. counting the days to a relaxing summer :)
